Every visit on Vetsy brings a vet into someone’s home, and every call puts a pet’s health in a vet’s hands. These guidelines exist so that each of those moments goes well: for the pet, for the family and for the vet. Most of them are common sense. All of them matter.

If an account or activity breaks these guidelines, we may limit or close it. The full rules are set out in our policies, linked at the end of this page.

Pet Owner Code of Conduct

Be there when the vet arrives

Be at the address at the time you booked. A vet will wait up to 15 minutes, and their time is another pet’s care.

Keep your pet secure

Keep your pet restrained and give the vet a safe, calm space to work. If your pet might bite or scratch, say so before the vet begins.

Tell the whole story

Share your pet’s history, current medicines and any earlier treatment, honestly and in full. A vet can only treat what they know about.

Trust the vet’s judgment

The vet decides what is clinically right on the day. That may mean a different vaccine from the one you booked, or no treatment at all, and the vet will tell you why.

Respect your vet

Our vets are registered professionals. Abuse, threats or harassment of a vet, or of anyone on our team, is never acceptable.

Cancel early, if you must

Cancel or reschedule in the app before the vet sets out, and ideally at least two hours before the visit, so the slot can go to another pet.

Keep it on Vetsy

Book and pay through the app. Arranging a visit privately with a vet you met on Vetsy, to avoid its fees, is not allowed.

In an emergency, go to a clinic

Vetsy is not an emergency service. If your pet is struggling to breathe, bleeding heavily, has collapsed, is having seizures or may have been poisoned, take it to the nearest veterinary clinic at once.

Treat Vetsy AI as a guide

Vetsy AI answers general questions about pet care. It is not a vet and can be wrong. For any decision that matters to your pet’s health, talk to a vet.

Keep your records honest

Records you add yourself are your own statement of what happened. Make sure they are accurate.

Photo and record guidelines

Show what helps

Add clear photographs of your pet, its condition, its reports and its prescriptions: whatever helps a vet understand what is going on.

Keep other people out of it

Avoid photographs of people where you can, and do not upload anyone else’s personal documents.

Only your own pets

Add records only for animals in your care.

Keep it appropriate

Nothing offensive, unlawful or unrelated to your pet’s care.

Guidelines for Veterinarians

Keep your registration current

Maintain a valid registration with the Veterinary Council of India or your State Veterinary Council, and tell us within 48 hours of any change to it.

Respond on time

Answer requests promptly when you are available. If you cannot attend a confirmed visit, tell us as early as possible.

Arrive prepared

Arrive on time with the equipment the visit needs, and let the pet owner know about any delay.

Respect the home

Treat every household, its members and its animals with courtesy and care.

Prescribe with care

Prescribe only when it is clinically right, and recommend a visit or a clinic whenever a consultation is not enough.

Keep pet owners’ data private

Use a pet owner’s details only for their booking, and never share them.

Take payment only through Vetsy

Never ask for or accept payment outside the app.

The full terms for veterinarians are set out in the Veterinary Partner Policy.
